Season Change = Time To Check Your Home For Gaps

Where I live it’s starting to get cold.  And windy.Autumn street colour - Chinese pistachios with gum tree - April 2013

Maybe for you it’s starting to get hot.

Either way, unless your home is well sealed, if you live in a temperate region it could get pretty uncomfortable (or expensive!) pretty soon.  There’s nothing like a strong wind to strip the heat (or cold) from your home…if your home is draughty because it has gaps.

And, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, change of season is a good time to get your home in good order for the coming season.

Improving the energy efficiency of your home will make your it much more comfortable…and tame your energy bills.

And it will be an important step to reducing your contribution to climate change. 😉

Here in Canberra we’re heading for our first frosts and fogs.  (ANZAC Day is our local marker for this change toward winter weather.)

It’s also been pretty dry…so houses are starting to show gaps again.

But it’s usually pretty easy to fix…

That’s one of the main tasks for my home at the moment – checking my home for gaps…and sealing them!

Here’s my fellow Canberran Lish Fejer showing you how to load a caulking gun…which is one of the essential tools for draught-proofing your home.
